You will need: A piece fabric of your choice and button of your choice
You will also need: Scissors, a Needle, Thread to match the fabric and a Glue Gun (optional). ( I use a lighter shade of thread for visibility purposes)
Cut a piece of fabric that is about 4 inches wide and 24 inches long for a medium sized flower. Don't have enough fabric? That's ok! The length of the fabric determines the width and size of the flower.
At this point if you are working with fabric that frays you can go ahead and burn the edges carefully with a lighter.
Fold the fabric in half and start threading across.
When you are done start gathering your end piece where the needle stops and pinch from start to finish. Begin forming your flower and sew the layers as needed to keep the flower in place.
Your flower is halfway done! Now choose your button. A lot of the buttons you see in the picture are actually earrings that I have bought at garage sales or thrift stores.
You can either sew your button or glue the button using a hot glue gun. I prefer to use the glue gun.
And here is the finished product!
I have attached the finished flowers to a stretchy headband.
You can also use these flowers to embellish pillows, purses, blouses and hair pins. Your options are endless.
I hope you enjoy making them. ;)
